Getting Involved
There's more than one way to get involved with Chamber. You can join a working group, speak at an event, contribute to a policy consultation, or simply come along and connect. Standing for the Board is one route — usually at the AGM, but nominations can happen at any point in the year. Get in touch any time to find out what's right for you.
Join the Board
As the largest business membership organisation in Guernsey, we're an independent voice for industry — and the Board is what steers that work. It shapes Guernsey's business landscape and makes sure member interests are heard at the highest levels. We look for members who bring fresh ideas, different perspectives, and a genuine willingness to get stuck in.
It's a voluntary, unpaid role — but it carries real influence, and it's a genuine chance to give something back to Guernsey business.
How to stand
Start with an informal, confidential conversation with Alice Gill, Executive Director, or Brooke Kenyon, our President. It's a chance to talk through your interest, learn more about Chamber, and understand what the role actually involves, including the time commitment.
When you're ready, complete the nomination form (available on our documents page ahead of each AGM) and email it to alice@guernseychamber.com by the deadline stated there.
Your nomination needs: a proposer who is a current Chamber member and your written consent to stand.
What's involved
The Board meets around ten times a year, either at Chamber's offices in St Peter Port or online. Board Members are elected for a one-year term, with the opportunity to stand again.
Beyond meetings, Directors are encouraged to get involved in:
- Working groups — contributing to the Industry and Policy Groups working on the issues affecting members
- Policy development — helping shape Chamber's public positions on the topics that matter to the business community
- Events — attending Chamber events and representing the organisation where relevant to your expertise
- Member engagement — connecting with members and helping surface the issues and opportunities Chamber should be acting on
- Strategic projects — supporting the delivery of initiatives aligned with Chamber's wider strategy
It's a role that asks for real time and genuine engagement, but it comes with genuine influence over the issues shaping Guernsey business.
Eligibility
To stand, you need to be:
- A current Chamber member
- Resident in Guernsey or Alderney
- Willing and able to give your time and expertise to Chamber activities
Submitting a nomination doesn't guarantee a seat on the Board, all nominations go through the formal election process at the AGM.
