Our Story

1808 is a long time to keep showing up for Guernsey business. We started as merchants organising to protect trade in and out of the island. Two hundred years on, the issues have changed — but the reason we exist hasn't: to make sure business has a voice, and somewhere to turn.

Today we're the largest business organisation on the island: over 450 member businesses, representing around 10,000 people. We sit in rooms with government that our members can't always get into themselves, and we bring back what we hear. We run the events that put Guernsey business in the same room, again and again, until the connections become the ordinary way things get done here.

Our Mission

We provide local businesses with the tools and resources to grow, creating prosperity and economic vibrancy for the island.

Our Vision

Guernsey Chamber will be the trusted and indispensable voice of business, shaping a future where innovation, collaboration, and opportunity thrive.

How do we go about this? Through advocacy, connection, and leadership.

Advocacy

To champion the interests of our members and become a powerful collective voice that influences policy and fosters growth.

  • Represent members in government and regulatory forums
  • Lobby for business-friendly legislation
  • Coordinate campaigns that raise awareness of key business issues

Connection

To build and nurture a vibrant network of businesses, government bodies, and community partners. Creating the partnerships and touchpoints that spark  conversation, collaboration and fuel growth.

  • Host events that put the right people together
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning, and introductions
  • Maintain an online hub for member profiles, events, and resources

Leadership

To inspire and empower Guernsey’s business community by bringing together industry experts and knowledge

  • Launch initiatives around key member opportunities or issues
  • Recognise excellence and showcase member success
  • Coordinate multi-stakeholder task forces to tackle pressing challenges

Our Values

We operate with Integrity We act with honesty, transparency and ethical conduct in all our dealings, ensuring trust and credibility for the Chamber and its members.

We work together We believe in the power of partnership, working hand-in-hand with businesses, governments, and communities to achieve outcomes that no single organisation can deliver alone.

We are inclusive We foster an environment where every member, regardless of size, sector or background has an equal opportunity to contribute and benefit from collective action

We lead by example We lead by example, convening thought-leaders, sharing best practices and mobilising the community to address challenges and seize emerging opportunities.

If you want to know how we are set up to achieve these, you should read our Memorandum and Articles of Association.

Our Charity of the Year – Guernsey Employment Trust

Each year we partner up with a local charity to help raise their profile within the business community.

Guernsey Employment Trust supports disabled and disadvantaged people to prepare for, find and maintain work in Guernsey.

GET has spent over a decade proving that when you give people the right support, they don’t just find work, they thrive in it. That benefits individuals, employers, and the whole island – and we want to help super charge this.

In the past 10 years GET has supported 834 unpaid placements, and facilitated 870 employment contracts, with an average job retention rate of 77% - and they support approximately 200 employers each year.

Its free services are designed to support not only people with disabilities but also employers, helping businesses create fair, legally compliant, and psychologically safe workplaces.

If you are interested in how they can help your business fill your vacancies, we would very happy to put you in touch.
